Pile o' pages

Typing this as an old special of DW plays out and definitely feeling the love. Lately I've been feeling apathetic, generally disconnected and lonely (rather sad, non?) and have decided to throw myself into a bit of reading to try and combat this. So, I've picked up a copy of Animal Farm (dubious thing to read about given the mood but hey, I don't mind a bit of Orwell) and have once again cracked the spine of my copy of Wuthering Heights (...wow, my choice in books is interesting). I've also decided to compile a list of things I want to do before I die (also a bit morbid) as a way to clear my head a little and see where I want to go in life. Well, mildly depressing post is mildly depressing-and a bit short, but hey ho! I've got eggs to poach with gob loads of HP sauce to drench them with, so, till next post!

PS. Just found out that PBS has a YouTube account where they have full episodes of some of their series! Now on Episode 2 of The Last Enemy starring Benedict Cumberbatch (they reason I thought I should watch it, not going to lie) and also has Robert Carlyle. Defos worth a visit to poke around and see what else they have! I sound a bit like an ad....

Buuuuh, erratic posting is erratic. I was quite looking forward to my courses this semester, but I didn't quite realise how labour intensive they would be. I won't bore you with how many papers, essays and document analyses I've done over the past 2ish weeks (that and I REALLY don't want to relive it...) but I will say I've been down-winding with some Gintama (銀魂). Definately one of my fave gag-anime. I will try and post more often as I do have some things to say and review, but besides catching a few episodes here and there of Gintama I've been doing home & house work. How do I continue on with such a boring life you ask? Pokemon battles. My dad's being all paranoid about marks (which is completely unfounded seen as though I got 90% on two of exams last semester and the other two were 79% and 88%) and has taken my DSi away- he didn't account for my friends bringing in decks of Pokemon cards. FridayFridayFriday!!!

Gahhhhhh, got my results back from my exams and my lowest mark was 80%! So relieved~ I knew I was going to do well (I was well prepared and in my element :3). It's also really relaxing having a spare! I'd forgotten how nice it is (I've only had one other and that was first period so I just slept in :P).

One of my classes, World Issues, has been really eye opening- and it's only been 2 days of the new semester! I always thought that I was fairly worldy, but I was surprised at how much else there is to know! The first day there was a slideshow that showed a country's flag, then a picture of their president (or prime minister) and then the names of both country and leader. I was surprised that I could only pick out about 3 flags of the 6 or 7 countries and 4 of the leaders names. It was pretty much the same for everyone else. Another exercise we did was drawing a map- with no external aid. I found it interesting that I could label Canada, US, all of the U.K and a fair amount of Europe, but I could only do a faint outline of the Middle East, I have no clue where the countries are supposed to be located in South America or even most of Asia. That was also pretty much the class norm (though there were a few that were much better and had proper detail- but lets face it, geography has never been a strong point of mine...).

Not really the best Friday blog post, just something I found interesting. On a lighter note, my mum took me to the British imports store so I could buy some Irn Bru, Tizer and a Curly Wurly :3 Have a good weekend!

Inspiration & 100 things

After reading 100 Things o'er on Sophia's Journal I feel inspired to take up the gauntlet and give the 100 things a go. Basically you gather a list of 100 things you care for or love (click the link to the aforementioned blog for a better example). Now that I've finally finished my exams for semester 1 I can update more! (Weak excuse is weak but true...) Especially since I have a spare period coming semester 2 :3 Anyways, I'll give updating Mondays & Fridays a go! But since I've decided this today, the first installment will be- if you can guess- today. So, allons-y! (Ten points to Gryffindor if you get my reference- other then the fact that I live in Canada and we also speak French...)...

1. My family (they drive me ridculously bonkers during holidays, but without them as a support system I would have fallen to pieces loooong ago)
2. My relationship with my parents (I feel this is different from my family on a whole, and I'm really thankful that I'm actually friends with my mum & dad)
3. My teachers, the good ones
4. A good book (this past Saturday I bought a Kobo -an eReader- and am loving the 100 pre-installed books it comes with! Just finished some hot lashings of Grimm's faery tales~)
5. My iPhone (hey, this is my list and I'll get as superficial as I like :3)
6. The BBC. I'm a bit obsessed with the BBC News app for the iPhone...
7. Inspiring/amazing people- like Stephen Fry, he makes me want to be informed and articulate
8. Doctor Who (a recent post on one of my favourite blogger's site was about the show, and I must say, DW- not from Arthur- has been a constant love in my life. Make of that what you will)
9. Nintendo. I have a DSiXL and a Wii.
10. German. History (more then just WWI & WWII happened), Language, Culture, Food (I freaking love Spätzle )

First post & Chrimble~!

So, first post! Instead of doing a huge intro post I think I'll just do a Christmas (or chrimble as we say in my fam) want post. I highly doubt I'm going to get all of these things (though I am angling to get a few!) but it would nice to be able to look back at the things I wanted when I was 17. So mini, intro then pictures (who reads text anymore? Though I kind of hope you do and I'm not just rambling on to no one...but pictures are good). My birthday is December 4th (making me 17 for those who missed it skimming) and I absolutely love snow. I also live in Canada. Make of that what you will. My parents are from England ergo I was raised in an English fashion (the cause of much confusion and irritation when I was younger and insisted on the 'proper' pronunciation of things...). I have a small Shetland Sheepdog (Amber, she's a sweetheart) and a love for pugs! I also love Persian cats :3 I'm finishing grade 12 and gearing up for Uni, I drink copious (and I mean copious) amounts of tea. Nice to meet you! Now, a picture! *gasp*

1. "Suedette Wedge Dress Shoes" From FF21. I love shoes... especially oxfords, black wedges, lace ups & tanned leather ones.

2. "Leatherette Oxford Bootie" Also from FF21. As aforementioned, I love shoes. However, I hate kitten heels...

3. The Mighty Boosh: Seasons 1- Seasons 3 Oh Chapters, you will quite possibly the reason for my downfall. I absolutely love this show and can recite all the songs by heart! I love Naboo~~~

4. Qi: The Book Of General Ignorance Once again, Chapters! I'm a huge Stephen Fry fan and he hosts this show (simply called Qi- 'quite interesting' I believe- no pun intended) and they have a round where they expose general ignorance. If you click the link they have examples.

5. Henry VIII Disappearing Wives Mug My friends and I make a lot of jokes with King Henry as the punchline. Yeah, you know you're cool when the funny in your joke rides on people knowing the historical facts surrounding a monarch. Yeah... did I mention that the portraits of his wives disapear when the mug gets hot? Should I be worried that it pleases me?

6. Doctor Who Disappearing TARDIS Mug IMMA HUGE DOCTOR WHO FAN END OF STORY. FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS WHEN I VISITED ENGLAND THIS PAST SUMMER WAS BUYING DALEK WRAPPING PAPER AND DWM (Doctor Who Magazine).

7. Sonic Screwdriver Wii Remote Once again, Doctor Who. I heard the game was terrible and it doesn't look like it's going to be released in Canada (or anywhere outside of the UK in fact). They also have a Sonic Screwdriver Stylus for the DS. I kind of need this in my life.
